How My Topic Relates to the Theme
My topic complies with the theme "Taking a Stand in History" because Albert Einstein was a leading Jewish figure before and during World War II. He stood up for the Jews, and was even put on the assassination list for the Nazis. His theories were denounced, but that did not phase Albert, which is shown in a quote from him saying "I did not know I was worth this much." (source: "Albert Einstein and the Theory of Relativity" by John Bankston). Einstein traveled throughout Europe making speeches against the Nazis, despite the dangers coming with it. According to an interview with Dr. Ronny Gross, Curator of Einstein Archives (source: 'Einstein Saved Jews from the Nazis' by Elad Benari & Yoni Kempinski), "A fact that is not well-known is that in the late 1930s, when Jews were discriminated against and were endangered in Europe and Einstein had already been in America, he helped quite a few Jews, especially from the scientific community, escape Nazi Germany,” Along with saving the Jews, Einstein used his scientific research to develop the atomic bomb in efforts to win the war. Overall, Einstein stood up against the powerful Nazi party knowing the consequences associated with doing so. He used his intelligence, bravery, and integrity to save many lives and bring awareness to the reality happening in Nazi-controlled Europe, all which lead him to be a leading figure during a time where many did not want to see him succeed.
