Entry Description
Why I chose this topic?
I decided to make my topic Albert Einstein for a few reasons. I have always found him interesting and very inspiring. At first, I only appreciated him because of his intelligence and famous theories. However, after doing research on his life, I found that he was not only a genius, but a very strong pacifist leader. I knew then I had to do my project on him.
How I conducted my research:
The first research I conducted was by checking out a book from my school library. I read the entire thing and found it very interesting, which made this project fun for me. After finishing the book and having lots of knowledge on Einstein, I began going online and researching biographies on him, and researching his involvement before and during World War II. The entire time I was taking notes and listing all of my sources. After thoroughly doing research, I began planning my website design using basic diagrams.
How I created and developed my website:
Once I had enough information to begin my website, I started by writing a summary of all of my research. After doing this, I categorized it into three sections: early life, Einstein & the Nazis, and how my topic relates to the theme. This helped tremendously. Next, I went onto Weebly and created my website. I made a page for each of the categories and placed the corresponding information in each one. I acquired pictures relevant to my information and placed them on the website, making sure to cite my sources. Finally, I reviewed the entire website and placed the finishing touches.
How my project relates to the theme:
My topic complies with the theme "Taking a Stand in History" because Albert Einstein was a leading Jewish figure before and during World War II. He stood up for the Jews, and was even put on the assassination list for the Nazis. His theories were denounced, but that did not phase Albert. He traveled throughout Europe making speeches against the Nazis, despite the dangers coming with it. Along with saving the Jews, Einstein used his scientific research to develop the atomic bomb in efforts to win the war. Overall, Einstein stood up against the powerful Nazi party knowing the consequences associated with doing so. He used his intelligence, bravery, and integrity to save many lives and bring awareness to the reality happening in Nazi-controlled Europe, all which lead him to be a leading figure during a time where many did not want to see him succeed.
